Restaurant Services and Menus with
Classification
Restaurant: Here foods are served to the
customer or guest as per they are ordered and the menu may be elaborate
one.
According to the type of the food served
restaurants are classified as: - General Restaurant and Specialty Restaurant.
1. General Restaurant: Where any
type of food may be served from an AL-a-carte menu and the room
decoration do not match with any particular country or cuisine or event.
2. Specialty Restaurant: where
foods from a particular cuisine are served and these restaurants have a special
theme relating to that cuisine or country or era. E.g. French, Chinese, Thai,
Italian, Spanish etc.
According to the type of service
restaurant may further be classified into two ways: Waiter Service Restaurants
and Self Service Restaurants.
1. Waiter Service Restaurants:
Waiter service restaurants are those where food is served by the waiters only.
These restaurants are also called traditional restaurants, which may be further
divided into -
a) Popular Priced Restaurants - which
served simple menu at moderate price in gentle atmosphere.
b) First Class Restaurants - which has
elaborate menu, highly skilled staffs, high stander of food and service,
Exclusive and luxurious environment and ambiance.
2. Self Service Restaurants: Here
customer helps themselves in getting food instead of being served by waiter.
These restaurants are gaining popularity for various reasons and can also be
sub-divided into -
a) Canteen - these are essentially self
service restaurants offering speeder service at a lower price.
b) Cafeteria - it offers the added
opportunity to the customers of seeing the foods are buying. For successful
running of cafeteria the important aspect include constant attention and frequent
assessment regarding quality of food, requirement of guests, turn-over
frequency, guest suggestions, type of food etc.
